The remake of “The Mummy” in 2017 was supposed to be the beginning of an entire franchise. Sadly, the movie was locked down and hidden because of the enormous number of critics and low review rate that was given by “Rotten Tomatoes”. The rumors says that the filmmakers of the movie blame Tom Cruise for this low rating and bad reviews.
This all started, according to the reports, with Cruise changing the movie genre from horror to an action-adventure story. Cruise made the writers to completely rewrite the whole film and expand his screen time. The actor had “an excessive amount of control” and the movie had “become a textbook case of a movie star run amok”, according to Variety.
