10. Rusty Nails Cause Tetanus
Many people believe that stepping or get injured by rusty nails will put you at high risk to get tetanus. Although rusty nails and metal are usually a way to intact with tetanus, the infection itself has nothing to do with the rust. Bacteria named Clostridium tetani (C tetani) is the one that causes tetanus which infects the nervous system, causing severe muscle spasms and even death.
Actually what causes tetanus is the ground pieces that surround the rusty nails which carry the bacteria and not the nail itself. Even a small cracks or scratches on the skin by the pieces can cause infection.
