ASUS Tinker Board 2

Asus announced on their new generation for the Single Board Computer which lately got popular – the Asus Thinker Board 2 and 2S. Asus promised to improve the performances up to 1.5 times compared to the old generation.

The Tinker Board 2 comes as the successor of Tinker Board 1 which was announced 4 years ago. The single board computer comes in 2 models – Tinker Board 2 and Tinker Board 2S. The Board 2S model is similar to the Board 2 model but comes with additional built in 16GB eMMC storage and not just an expandable storage with microSD card. Both models will run Linux Debian 9 operation system and at the beginning of 2021 even support windows.

Asus replaced the old chipset with a new one – the Rockchip RK3399 that comes with quad core processor Cortex-A53 and duel core processor Cortex-A72. The graphic core that comes along with the chipset is Mali-T860 MP4. The Tinker is equipped with 2GB or 4GB Ram.

The some of the Asus Tinker Board 2 input connectors are:

  • 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C (DisplayPort support) 
  • 3x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A
  • 1x RJ-45 Gigabit LAN
  • 1x Wi-FI 802.11 AC and Bluetooth 5.0
  • Power source by 12V – 19V DC barrel jack
  • 1x 22-pin MIPI DSI
  • 1x 15-pin MIPI CSI-2

The price tag and availability for the new SBC Asus Tinker Board 2 and 2S haven’t been announced yet.
