This new smart phone of Microsoft is going to arrive at the fans’ hands about a year after the announcement of it. But the price tag might scare most of the fans…

It was about a year ago that Microsoft decided to join the folding smartphones trend – and revealed the Surface Duo – double screen smartphone. Now we got the price and its release date.

The Surface Duo is a smaller version of the Surface Neo, 2-in-1 device that was announce along the Duo and it include 2 5.6-inch screens and it is open like a book.

You will be able to turn the phone 360° (with another screen at the back) or have an 8.3-inch screen when both screens are open.

The regular version of the Duo will arrive with Snapdragon 855, 6GB of RAM and a storage of 256GB.

The smartphone won’t support 5G but LTE. The battery is pretty disappointing, only 3577mAh, way smaller than the battery of the Galaxy Fold. Its price tag might make it hard to be sold and even already doomed it to faliure, but Microsoft believes its device and developed API to allow developers creates apps for the dual screen phone.

Microsoft Stops The Purchase Process Of TikTok

Microsoft, one of the biggest tech companies in the world considered purchasing the most popular app in the world – TikTok.

But an unpredictable event might blow up this surprising acquisition.

During the last days, the American government start taking actions against the famous app, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. According to the American government, the app put over 100 million american users in danger due to the fact that the app collects data about their users.

President Trump said that he is about to ban the app in the US, but TikTok had a slight chance of being excluded from this ban by being acquired by Microsoft, which will make the Chinese company to American company.

The Corona Virus really helped the app’s growth over the past several month. The app has over 2 billion downloads in the App Store and Google Play, while having 800 million returning users – users who use the app daily.

The app, formerly known by the name, has 600 million users in india, 80 million users in the US and about 150 million users in China. The special thing about the app is that as opposed to other social media apps such as Facebook and Instagram which probably reached their maximum number of users (almost no growth in new users), TikTok is on the rise and acquires new users each and every day. In the first quarter of 2020, the app registered 315 million downloads, which are 58% improvement over the previous quarter.

Slack Wants To Replace The Traditional Emails – Meet Connect

Slack want you to manage all your communication with their platform – communicate with colleges, customers, supplier and service providers.

Almost from day one, Slack managed to replace many in house emails. Now that they are facing a hard competitor, Microsoft’s Team, Slack wants to control the communication outside the organizations as well.

After 4 years of development and beta versions, Slack feels confident to release “Connect” – new service that hopefully will replace your mail box. This service is a kind of extension to the “Shared Channels” feature that was presented by Slack 2 and a half years ago that allowed to companies to communicate directly via Slack – an admin on one company can contact another admin in a different company and create a separate channel from the in-house channels.

Connect is an improved version of the shared feature channels that will allow the user to share channels (actually chats) with users from up to 20 different organizations at once. Besides the ability to talk with a person and get an instance respond, Slack is known with their many integrations to 3rd party apps – all these will be available in Connect as well.

This will allow users to have a Zoom meeting directly from Slack, open files in Google Drive or work together on files in Adobe Creative Cloud. In the upcoming features, users will be able to sign contracts, manage package tracking and manage messages from customers. Another nice feature will help you schedule a meeting more easily by syncing your calendar with Slack and by that you will be able to see free slots in all calendars.

For now, 40,000 companies already tired a beta version of Connect. Now all paying users will be able to enjoy this feature and create secure communication channels.

We are still unsure if this feature will really replace the traditional Connect, but we definitely know that Microsoft will have to add some major improvements to Teams in order to stay in this competition.

The President Of Microsoft Calls To Investigate Apple

The president of Microsoft, Brad Smith, says that the app store should work under supervisions and regulations.

Few days before Apple’s big event – WWDC where Apple will announce new products and developments such as IOS 14, IPad OS 14, WatchOS 7, new Mac and new iMac, Apple find itself under criticism – The European Union opened an investigation about new information that came from an ex-employee who claimed that Apple keeps recording users without their knowledge and the founder of Basecamp called them “gangsters” because they rejected his app’s version update due to the fact the billing system of the app is not related to Apple.

Now, one of Apple’s biggest competitors – Microsoft, is on the offence.

Microsoft’s president Brad Smith interviewed to the site “politico” and said that he is against Apple’s policy about apps. Smith is in favor of the investigations against Apple and said that their behavior eliminates competition.

Smith said:

“They impose requirements that increasingly say there is only one way to get on to our platform and that is to go through the gate that we ourselves have created. In some cases they create a very high price per toll — in some cases 30% of your revenue has to go to the toll keeper.” Smith continued – “The time has come — whether we are talking about D.C. or Brussels — for a much more focused conversation about the nature of app stores, the rules that are being put in place, the prices and the tolls that are being extracted and whether there is really a justification in antitrust law for everything that has been created”.

According to Smith, for a long time, tech giants such as Apple and Google, try to create one way to do things, and it is their way only. For example, Fortnite tried to publish their mobile version outside Google Play in order to avoid paying such high fee, which can get as high as 30%, but lost the case in court and now they must publish the game on Google’s store.

Microsoft know what they are talking about – in the 90’s Microsoft tried to fight Netscape, which developed internet browsers and was the biggest competitors to Microsoft’s internet explorer, by bundle internet explorer with every copy on Windows. Microsoft got many fines and had to pay compensation.

Apple responded to the investigation and said on Tuesday –  “it’s disappointing the European Commission is advancing baseless complaints from a handful of companies who simply want a free ride, and don’t want to play by the same rules as everyone else.”
